Unison is an open-source, local-first personal AI platform designed to return time and attention to you. UnisonOS is its Linux appliance runtime, built to run on hardware you control, work with replaceable AI models, and keep your identity, context, and decisions under your authority.
Unison works through the devices and services already in your life, including phones, computers, messaging, voice, and home devices. It coordinates those tools around your goals while preserving your familiar apps and interactions.

A different incentive¶
Unison is intended to optimize for your personal objectives. Advertising, sponsored placement, engagement, and provider commercial agendas have no role in its decisions. Success is measured in useful outcomes, commitments completed, accessibility, recoverability, and time returned to you.
Your data stays under your control
Your trusted device holds the authority. External models, channels, and backup services are optional, minimized, and replaceable.
Independent assistants, intentional sharing
Each adult has an independent assistant and private data domain. You share selected context through spaces you explicitly approve.
Accessible from the start
Text, speech, visual, touch, Braille, sign, and future modalities must preserve the same meaning and control.
One assistant across daily life¶
At home, you can interact locally. Away from home, approved channels such as messaging or voice can connect you back to the authoritative node through an outbound-first gateway. A low-assurance channel can ask, draft, or notify; a sensitive action requires stronger authentication and an understandable confirmation.
Unison can coordinate the phone and apps you already enjoy as an excellent personal, administrative, and executive assistant. Your context remains under your control throughout that coordination.
